How do you create value through sustainability?

Certified Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Workshops and Modules

Our Workshops and Modules

Our Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified workshops and modules are offered via two learning options:

GRI training courses are delivered in virtual online classroom and face to face settings.

1. Reporting with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards 2021 Workshop

This workshop can be completed as a standalone workshop, or as part of the GRI Professional Certification Program. Participants earn three (3) points out of a possible five (5) points towards their professional certification. To receive the professional certification, participants must complete the entire learning pathway (the GRI Standards 2021 workshop, the Reporting on Human Rights with the GRI Standards 2021 module and the Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) module into Sustainability Reporting module, in addition to taking the GRI Certification Exam. This exam is undertaken directly with the GRI.

Learning Objectives

This course will enable you to prepare a report that is in accordance with the GRI Standards 2021. ZOOiD and all training materials are certified by the Global Reporting Initiative.

By the end of the course, participants should feel very confident in how to prepare a best practice Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability report using the GRI Standards. Most importantly, participants will begin to understand the GRI report writer’s adage “It’s not about the report, it’s about the process!”

Take outs of the course include how to:

  • Understand, interpret and implement the GRI Standards
  • Apply the GRI Reporting Principles
  • Identify material topics
  • Identify linkages with other sustainability reporting frameworks
  • Streamline reporting processes throughout your organisation
  • Communicate your report
  • Prepare you for future reporting cycles through continuous improvement principles.

Who should attend?

Individuals who are new to the Global Reporting Initiative sustainability reporting process, or reporters who have completed the GRI Standards 2016 course and feel they need guidance to progress to the 2021 Standards. It can also be of benefit to have more than one person from the same organisation attend the workshop, as sustainability reporting is multi-disciplinary in nature, and it helps to have more than one person with GRI knowledge as support. Our participants come from a broad spectrum of sustainability focused areas of the organisation, including company secretary, HSE, corporate planning, project management, corporate social responsibility, health & wellbeing planning/policy, sustainability, communications, marketing, business analysts, community relations, business improvement, HR and more.

Which organisations should attend?

No matter how large or small your organisation is, all organisations should consider preparing a GRI report. GRI reporting allows you to refine your business processes and better communicate your sustainability activities to a wide range of stakeholders. All sectors benefit from GRI reporting.
