How do you create value through sustainability?

ING

ING (the trading name of ING Bank (Australia) Ltd) is wholly owned by the ING Group (headquartered in the Netherlands) – a global financial institution. ING was voted Australia’s most recommended bank by Neilsen in FY2017/2018.

The brief:

ING embarked on the publication of its first Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Report and needed to educate the senior management team on the key requirements of reporting, including the key principles of the GRI sustainability reporting framework, how it related to the company’s sustainability strategy, and to be engaged in the reporting process.

ZOOiD delivered:

  • Customised GRI presentations for the senior management team covering planning for reporting, stakeholder prioritisation and analysis and materiality assessment
  • Mentoring sessions for the Manager Sustainability on material indicator selection and forward planning
  • Sustainability report review and editing for both the ING 2012 and 2013 Sustainability Reports
  • Coordination of report checks with the GRI head office in Amsterdam

Project Outcomes:

  • Engagement and commitment by the senior management team in the reporting process
  • Confidence by the sustainability team in the second year of reporting to undertake the majority of the report writing
